Serving the Memphis/Mid-South metropolitan area, Southwest Tennessee Community College delivers its instruction principally through six Shelby County locations and one Fayette County location. During the 2003 Fall Semester, the college served 11,629 credit students, many of whom enrolled at more than one location.

Southwest Tennessee Community College offers 103 courses through the World Wide Web (www). Two AAS degrees are entirely online: Office Administration: General Administrative Assistant Concentration, and Business and Commerce: Management Concentration. A complete list of the course requirements for these degrees is available at http://ww2.southwest.tn.edu/onlinedegree Additionally, a myriad of courses are offered in Developmental Studies, Accountancy, Business, English, Mathematics, Office Administration, and the Social Sciences that meet degree requirements. Online courses are also available in the areas of Fire Science, Nutrition, Criminology, Hospitality Management, and Paralegal Studies. Areas such as Allied Health and the Natural Sciences provide online courses with an on-campus lab component.

The online course inventory contains 119 courses. During spring 2004, 76 courses are currently being offered with students registered in 100 sections. Most of Southwest Tennessee Community College’s distance education students come from the school’s service area of Shelby and Fayette Counties; however, a few students reside out-of-state or overseas.
