Southwest Tennessee Community College was removed from "Warning" status
in December 2002 following the submission of a follow-up report and an
on-campus review by a special visiting team
April 2000 - Shelby State Community
College and State Technical Institute at Memphis submitted Prospectus
for Consolidation (Substantive Change Under Procedure E) to SACS
Commission on Colleges.
July 2000 - Southwest Tennessee
Community College created through the consolidation of Shelby State
Community College and State Technical Institute at Memphis.
Feb 2001 - Substantive Change
Committee conducted campus visit and recommended seventeen actions to
complete compliance with Criteria for Accreditation. The College
submitted its response to recommendations in August 2001.
December 2001 - SACS
Commission on Colleges identified ten continuing recommendations and
placed the institution on "warning" status. The College submitted its
first progress report to SACS/COC in September 2002.
October 2002 - Special
committee visited campus, confirmed resolution of nine recommendations,
and continued a recommendation about the expansion of Macon Cove library
facilities and staff.
December 2002 - SACS
Commission on Colleges removed College from "warning" status and
required second progress report on expansion of Macon Cove library
facilities and staff. The College expanded library space by 30%, hired a
new professional librarian, and submitted second progress report to
SACS/COC in April 2003.
June 2003 SACS Commission
on Colleges accepted progress report with no further information
requested.
Academic Program
